Steven Douglas MacDonald

Steven Douglas MacDonald passed away suddenly in Las Vegas, NV on August 29, 2012 at the young age of 53.
He was the eldest son of Douglas and Kathleen (Brownrigg) MacDonald of Elk Grove, CA. Steven lived in Las Vegas for the past 27 years. He graduated from Hinkley HS, Aurora, CO in 1978. He joined the USAF where he spent 4 years as a loadmaster. He received a medal of honour for his part in the aftermath of the Jonestown Massacre in Guyana. He went on to work at several of Steve Wynns' casinos in the security field. Steven loved the outdoors. He loved camping, fishing, hiking and travelling. He especially enjoyed taking his family to his hometown in Nova Scotia, Canada.
He is survived by his wife Diane (Gill), his son Steven, Richmond, VA, daughters Christina Douglas, SanDiego, CA, Kayla (Tony) Grieve, Crestview, FLA, Heather (Anthony) Tussing, Phoenix, AZ and 2 grandchildren, his stepsons Steven Gill, NJ and Raymond (Denise) Gill, Conn, stepdaughter Dawn Wruck, Phoenix, AZ., his brother Vernon, Sacramento, CA, sisters Beth (Tony) Straw, Elk Grove, CA, Wendy (Bill) Chavez, Aurora, CO, and Denise (Buck) Hetrick, Placerville, CA., his paternal uncles Sandy (Arlene), Robert (Eileen) and Wayne MacDonald of Florida, his paternal aunts Joan MacDonald, Trenton, Virginia Dinn, NB, Colleen (Raymond) Cossette, BC, Marcie (Wayne) Harb, Stellarton, Brenda Kelly, Ont., Faye (Frank) Kaylek, Ont., maternal uncle Denis (Elga) Brownrigg, New Glasgow, maternal Aunt JoLynn (Herb) Murray, Stellarton, and special aunt Vera (Maurice) Cunningham, Plymouth. He was predeceased in death by his paternal grandparents Henry and Cecilia MacDonald, Stellarton, uncles Edward (Mook), Donald and Raymond (who died in infancy), aunt and uncle Henrietta and Jim Patterson, Stellarton, Jim Dunn, NB and Frank MacDonald, Trenton. Also by his maternal grandparents George and Mary Brownrigg, Stellarton, and his aunts and uncles Frank and Patsy (Brownrigg) Roma, Porters' Lake and George and Betty (Brownrigg) Krauss of New Jersey. The family wishes to thank Creekside Hospice for the loving care they gave him in his final week. We especially want to thank Father Joseph for his prayers and caring. Steve loved the song "Carry on my wayward son" by Kansas, and every time we hear it we will be reminded of him <3.We will not shed anymore tears for he is in a better place now with God and all of those who went before him. Steven was cremated and a military funeral service will be held on September 27th, 10:00 a.m. at the Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900, Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City, NV.
