It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend. Debbie Carabin, 47, of Glace Bay passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2012.
Born Oct. 9, 1964, in Toronto, Debbie was the daughter of Malcolm ‘Maxie’ and the late Joan MacNeil of Iona.
Debbie graduated from Rankin Memorial High School, Iona. She obtained her Dental Assistant Diploma at NSIT. It was through Debbie’s love of animals that she completed a dog grooming course in the spring of 1990 and never looked back. Through her hard work and devotion she established a thriving business, “Debbie’s Dog Grooming”, where she made many new friends. We the family would like to thank all of Debbie’s customers past and present, for their support and for helping make the business such a success.
Debbie will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Lorne and their three beautiful daughters, Sara, Abby and Olivia, for whom she would move heaven and earth. Also surviving are her father, Malcolm ‘Maxie’; brother, Billy, Highland Hill, Iona, and her sister, Susan MacFarlane (husband, Jim) and nephew, Colin of Fort McMurray; father and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Betty Carabin, Glace Bay; sister-in-law, Linda (Terry) Best and their children, Andrew, Erin (Paul) and their son, Sean. She will also be missed by her dear friends, Craig, Debbie and Sandra, her many cats and her bulldog, Stella.
Debbie was predeceased by her mother, Joan MacNeil.
Visitation for Debbie will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at St. Anthony’s Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. A luncheon will be held at the church hall. Cremation will take place with interment at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
