HOWE, PRISCILLA POLLYANNA - (1953 - 2012) - Priscilla "Polly" Howe passed away at home in Grand Harbour, Grand Manan Island on Monday, September 24, 2012 in the loving care of her family. She was born in Gardner, Massachusetts to Gladys Leighton and Cameron Howe. After living in Massachusetts for many years Polly moved to Grand Manan Island in her late 30’s, where her maternal family lives and where many childhood summers were spent. Shortly after moving to the Island she met George Urquhart who became her partner and best friend for the final 22 years of her life. They lived and enjoyed a quiet life together at their home in North Head where Polly enjoyed the simple things in life and the company of her family. She is survived by her husband, George Urquhart of Grand Harbour, one daughter Corrie Morrissey of Leicester MA, two sisters Susan (George) Harris of Grand Harbour, and Patricia (John) Wood of Castalia, step-children George, Christopher, and Kevin Urquhart, five step-grandchildren, and many close relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father Cameron and one brother Charles.
Visiting will take place at Ells Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 26th from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place at the North Head Baptist Church on Thursday, September 27th at 1:30 pm with Ruth Fair-Parker officiating and assisted by Rev. Ed Shaw. There will be a reception following the service. The interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery. Polly’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Charlotte County Cancer Association or the Grand Manan Animal Rescue League.
