Irene Isabell Hunter Hill (25/02/1915 - 19/09/2012) - wife, mother, teacher. It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Irene Isabell. She is survived by her son, Peter (Bonnie); five grandchildren, Susannah, Caitlin, James, Michael and Lisa; five great grandchildren, Brett, Zachary, Noah, Gabriel and Mallory. She was predeceased 25 years ago after 44 years of marriage by her late husband, Lloyd Kenneth Hill; five sisters and a brother. She taught for 34 years in Nova Scotia and was told by the superintendent of schools that she was one of the best teachers in Nova Scotia. She believed that each child mattered and many of her former students continued to keep in touch with her throughout the years. She was a long time member of Trinity United Church, Canning, where she served in the choir and as an elder. She said if you want to say something nice about me, you could say I was never idle - if not cooking or cleaning, I was knitting, crocheting, reading or doing crosswords. There was a private graveside service for immediate members of her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
