Wilfred 'Da' Spencer

Born In: Beridgeport, Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada

Passed in: Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: September 26th, 2012

We regret to announce the passing of Old Da Spencer on Sept. 26, 2012 at the Fort St. John Hospital in B.C.
Da was born in Bridgeport, the youngest child of the late Edward and Mary Spencer. He lived and worked in the coal mines of Cape Breton for over 65 years, until moving with his family to Halifax and then to British Columbia, where he has resided for the past 18 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Jean (Terry Randall) Spencer; Berwick, N.S., Garry (Rob Anderson) Spencer; Toronto, Ont. and Leona (John) Seward; Fort St. John, B.C. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Alex, Conor, Mary Anne (Arthur), David (Connie), Brian (Bryna) and Amanda (Chad); great-grandchildren, Austin, Ethan, Keaton, Victoria, Robyn and Blake. He was especially fond of his nephews, Eric (Linda) Spencer, Dominion, Alex Roberts, Glace Bay and Dale Spencer, Toronto.
After moving to B.C., Da enjoyed his senior years mostly playing cards and checkers, doing puzzles and bingo tickets and of course drinking beer. His health was impeccable even in his late eighties allowing him to continue shovelling snow, mowing lawns and talking walks around the block. His vitality was a continuous strength to my family and there are no words to describe the emptiness his passing will leave in our hearts as well as our home.
“Da is and always will be a beautiful Da.”
By request, cremation will take place under the direction of the Hamres Funeral Home in Fort St. John.
