John Savoy

SAVOY, JOHN WILLIAM - John William Savoy of Willow Grove, husband of the late Melvina (Chaisson) Savoy, passed away at home on September 27, 2012. Born in Chatham on August 4, 1932, he was a son of the late John William and Mary (Hebert) Savoy. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the Armed Forces and Merchant Marine. Following the war, John worked as a cook for Kent Lines, and enjoyed hunting, and spending time with his family; they were his life. He is survived by his children Mildred (Blair) Cameron, Joseph (Marion) Savoy, John Jr. (Heather) Savoy, and Melvina (Willie) Snodgrass, thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sister Kathleen (Lloyd) Owens, and step-brothers Billy and Eddie Savoy. In addition to his parents and wife, John was pre-deceased by a sister, Bertha Forsythe. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a “Tribute to a Veteran” Service on Sunday at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
