Marie-Louise was born on October 23, 1921 in Vonda, SK to Joseph Dumais and Sybil Moonen. She grew up in Vonda until the family moved to Mattes, SK in 1933. She attended school in Mattes and completed Grade 6 but then she had to stay home and help out with her brothers and sisters. She married Theodore Croteau on October 29, 1945. In their sixty-five plus years of marriage, Ted and Marie-Louise had seven children – 5 girls and 2 boys, 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Mom had many hobbies that kept her very busy. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting. She also was a fantastic cook and baker, oh her treats were so good. Mom had a green thumb, she had a big garden and always had house plants that thrived. She always looked forward to spring and fall when she would go to the field to bring Dad his lunch and help him anyway she could. They farmed in the Debden area until 1975 when they retired to Prince Albert. They were able to stay in their own home until 2006, when they moved to Oliver Place (a retirement home) in Saskatoon, SK. In 2009, after several strokes she moved to Oliver Lodge where she peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the age of 90 years.
