MATHEWSON, Roy George – 79, of South Ohio, Yarmouth Co., passed away October 2, 2012 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born December 6, 1932 in Eagle Lake, Ontario, he was a son of the late William and Etta (Hannivan) Mathewson. Roy was a member of Yarmouth North Baptist Church. He worked as a mechanic and for Nova Scotia Power. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending his time at Tim Horton’s. He will be remembered as a dedicated husband and father, as well as a people person who especially loved his family. He is survived by wife, Rose; daughters, Rhonda (Larry) Blinn, Darlings Lake; Kelly Smith, Maple Ridge, B.C.; sons, Kevin, South Ohio; Roy, Peterborough, Ont.; brothers, Joseph, Gull Lake, Ont.; James, South Carolina; sisters, Helen Robertson and Margaret Brook, both of Ontario; as well as four grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Friday, October 5 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held Saturday, October 6 at 2 p.m. from Yarmouth North Baptist Church, Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in Roy’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of your choice.
