It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Daniel MacKenzie early Oct. 14, 2012, at Valley Regional Hospital and formerly of Glace Bay.
Daniel was predeceased by his parents, Frances Davis and Alexander MacKenzie, his wife Rosella (Rosie) Thomas, sister, Audrey (Frank) McNeil and brother-in-law, William Hart.
He is survived by his children, Aubrey, Peter (Shelley), Roxanne (Calvin) Hibbert; special granddaughter, Chayna MacKenzie (Chris) who he helped raise. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as his companion Mary Ann Babcock and her family. He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Hart and Helen (Tony) McNeil.
He worked hard as a shoemaker at Markondonis Shoe Repair and an employee at Highland Fisheries. He spent his spare time doing auto body repairs. He was also a valued and loved member of the deaf community across the Maritimes. He will be dearly missed by his many friends.
Viewing will be held at McGillivary Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. with Fr. Leo Boone officiating and Deacon Gordon Mackinnon assisting.
Donations in Daniel’s memory may be made to charity of one’s choice.
