Charles Everett Knock, 77 of Crouses
Settlement, Upper LaHave passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Lower Kingsburg on July 21, 1935, Charles was the son of the late Everett and Mary Ann (Mossman) Knock.
Charles started his working career in the woods with Stewart Wentzell and Paul Conrad. In 1968 he started work at the Lunenburg Fish Plant working in the freezer. He finished his career, at National Sea Products, going to sea from 1978 to 1992 on various boats out of Lunenburg and he often fished with his nephew, Capt. Larry Mossman.
Many will remember Charles as an avid Ox Teamster who enjoyed his time spent looking for just the right team or ox to pair. He could be found at Ox pulls along the South Shore, even journeying yearly to Maine to attend the Cumberland Exhibition to watch the International Ox Pull.
Charles enjoyed telling stories and spending time with his only grandchild, Quentin Charles Bennett Knock, during his final months. He was pleased when all his daughters and families were able to spend a lovely Thanksgiving weekend with him at his home in his final week.
He is a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Rose Bay.
Charles is survived by his loving daughters, Vanessa Knock (Frank Elliott), Amherst; Melissa Knock (Chris Foote) Montreal; Felicia Knock, Bayport; only grandson, Quentin Knock, Amherst; sister, Doris Mossman, Riverport, brothers, David Knock of Niagara Falls and Albert Knock of Mill Village, Aunt, Doris Robbins, Rumford, Maine; Uncle, Mark Mossman, Bridgewater, and numerous nieces and nephews from Nova Scotia and Niagara Falls, Ontario all of whom were special to him.
Charles was predeceased by nephew, Capt. Larry Mossman and special uncle, Clyde Mossman.
A public Graveside Committal Service will be held at the Lakeview Cemetery, Lower Kingsburg, Monday October 22 at 1 pm.. Rev. Laurence Mawhinney to officiate. Charles then wished to have friends and family share in fellowship and a bowl of seafood chowder at the Riverport Firehall.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lake View Cemetery, or to any other charity.
