It is with heavy hearts we regret to announce the passing of our brother after a brief illness, surrounded by his family and friends on Sept. 25, 2012 in Calgary, Alberta.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of Daniel and the late Mary (Wowk) O’Leary.
He is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Allister) Marsman; son, Daniel (Amanda); the mother of his children, Debbie Currie and granddaughters, Ayrianna and Ava. He is also survived by sisters, Mary Jane, Patsy (Don) Hume, Donna, Kathy, Valerie and Francine; brothers, Steve (Paula), Tom (Lena), Shawn (Peggy); many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In his early years Fred was employed at the Steel Plant and also co-founder of Caper Construction. Fred was a skilled carpenter for 35 years, recently employed by Service Master of Calgary.
Fred enjoyed making people laugh, playing with his granddaughters, fishing, tarabish and watching the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Fred was predeceased by his mother, Mary (Wowk) O’Leary, sisters, Loretta (in infancy) and Josie Gurney.
Funeral service to be held at Holy Redeemer Parish on Friday, Oct. 26 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Murphy officiating. Reception to follow. Private burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of choice.
