PICTOU LANDING FIRST NATIONS – Loretta Mary Mills, age 52, of Pictou Landing First Nations, passed away October 19, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Bridget (Martin) Toney.
She lived most of her life in Pictou Landing with the exception of a few years in Pictou. Loretta most recently worked at the Pictou Landing First Nations School. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church. Loretta enjoyed beadwork, crafts, and puzzles.
Surviving are her husband Vernon, daughters: Marsha (Anthony) Phillips, Waygobah First Nations; Jennifer (Anthony) Nicholas; Heather Mills (John Cooke); Veronica Mills (Cory Deal); Katilyn Mills (Allan Chisholm); son Joseph Mills (Bernice Nicholas), all of Pictou Landing First Nations; 12 grandchildren; sisters: Barbara Prosper, Mary “Mye” Francis; Marguerite Toney, Alice May Francis, all of Pictou Landing First Nations; aunt Dorothy Bernard, Pictou Landing First Nations.
Predeceased by a brother Joseph Toney, sisters Suzanna “Susie” Bernard and Virginia Bernard.
Her remains will rest in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Pictou Landing First Nations after 2 p.m. on Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
