ARDNESS\PICTOU - Rita Cyr, 76, Pictou, formerly of Ardness, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2012, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in Inverness, she was a daughter of the late Maggie Basker. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore.
Surviving are daughter, Margie (Pedro) Barreto, Pictou; sons, Edward “Butch” Cyr, Pictou; John (Anita) Cyr, Pictou; sister, Theresa, Inverness; brothers, Colin, Chris, Inverness; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her mother, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul Arthur Cyr; sisters, Veronica “Sippie”, Rose, Loretta and Josie; daughter-in-law, Henrietta Cyr.
The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel with Father Gerald Campbell presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lismore, at a later date.
