GLAS, Loretta Maria (nee Matt) of Shaunavon, SK and formerly of the Masefield, SK district passed away peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2012 at Shaunavon Hospital & Care Centre with her family by her side. Loretta was born on November 19, 1922 at Balgonie, SK to Cosmos and Georgina Matt (nee Weisgerber). She spent most of her childhood years in the Mankota/Ferland district with her family. Loretta lived in St. Boniface, MB for a short period and then moved to Masefield where she ran the Post Office. In 1947 she married Pious Glas and they remained in the Masefield area where they spent their years farming and raising their family. She was predeceased by her husband, Pious in 2005, an infant daughter, Martha in 1951 son, Edward in 1981 and father, Cosmos Matt in 1966 and mother, Georgina Matt in 1988. She is survived by her seven children, son, Robert (Kathy Lang) of Langham, and children, Larry Lang of Saskatoon and Robert (Leigh) Lang of Grande Prairie; son, Richard (Angie) of Val Marie, and their children, Jennifer (Kevin Holmberg) of Maple Creek, Daniel (Jessica Tremblay) of Val Marie, Clinton of Val Marie and Jared (Whitney Gagnon) of Medicine Hat; daughter, Julianne (George) Velpel of Pense; son, Raymond of Shaunavon and his children, Rachel (Cliff) Blyth of Beaumont and their children, Payton and Cooper, and Curtis of Calgary; son, Roger (Stella) of Val Marie and their children, Stephanie (Jared) Button of Martensville, Melinda (Ray Moen) of Swift Current and children, Aleaha and Tydon, and Jessica (Scott Prive) of Regina; son, John (Tammy Hall) of Val Marie and children, Corey Hall of Calgary, Shannon (Mike Lavine) of Kitchner and their son, Nicholas, and Shelley Hall of Climax; son, James (Charlotte) of Shaunavon and their children, Bob of Shaunavon, Bradley of Regina, Ashley (Logan Acker) of Medicine Hat and Amanda of Shaunavon; one sister, Henrietta (Leo) Kress of Taber and one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Glas of Leduc, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held from the Church of the Nativity in Val Marie on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Father John Mock officiating. The eulogy was presented by David Glas and music was provided by Curtis Glas and Maurice Lemire. Jessica Glas was the cross bearer and readers were Theresa Laturnus and Rachel Blyth. Interment took place at Masefield R. C. Cemetery.
