ILSE
Donald Henry Ilse, 83, North East Point, Cape Sable Island, Shelburne County, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Don was born to the late Arthur and Julia (Moe) Ilse on October 7, 1929 in Brookings Township, South Dakota, U.S.A. Don served four years in the American Military during the Korean War 1950-1954. Following this he attended the South Dakota University from which he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Later he was employed by the Barrington Municipal School Board for 18 years. Don was a member of the West Head Advent Christian Church and more recently a member of the Bear Point Advent Christian Church and the Nova Scotia Advent Christian Conference. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, the former Loretta Eleanor Nickerson; sons, David (Stephanie), North East Point, Devere, Shelburne; daughter, Denise, North East Point; grand-children, Jessica, Halifax, Matthew, British Columbia, Ryland, North East Point; brothers, Gerald (Gladys), Brookfield, Wisconsin, Glen (Cheri), Sioux Falls, S. Dakota, Gary (Cindy), DesMoines, Iowa; sister, Gail (Curtis) Mayberry, Citrus Heights, California; a number of nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Bud (Doris) and Phillip; sisters, Kathleen & Joan, in infancy. Burial took place in the West Head Advent Cemetery, West Head. Memorial donations may be made to the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund or the Autism Society.
