We the family of Winnifred Christena Murphy regret to announce her passing on Oct. 25, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with her son by her side.
Born in Bay St. Lawrence on March 26, 1943 to the late Willard and Ruth (Timmons) Zwicker.
Survived by her sons, Dennis, L’arche in Orangedale and Willard at home; sisters, Kathleen (Edward) Pearson, Summerside P.E.I., Marilyn (Jim) MacLean, Ingonish, Louise (Sanford) Fitzgerald, Westmount, Holly (Robert) Doyle, Sydney Forks and one brother, Albert (Pauline) Zwicker, Prime Brook; sisters-in-law, Marie (David) MacDonald and Cora Murphy; brother-in-law, Munroe (Rhadie) Murphy all of Ingonish. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Winnie was predeceased by husband, Herbert Murphy; brother-in-law, Innis Murphy, and father and mother-in-law, James and Annie Murphy.
She was a kind and gentle person with a great sense of humour who enjoyed fishing with her sons in the Highlands and her sister weekends. She had a great love for animals, her flower gardens, and knitting that she generously shared with anyone in need of a good pair of socks.
Cremation has taken place, a memorial service will take place at Ingonish United Church on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at 2 p.m., Rev. Margie Wood officiating. Interment to follow in Ingonish United Cemetery. Reception at the Ingonish Fire Hall.
Donations can be made to L’Arche, Orangedale or An Cala Palliative Care at the Regional Hospital.
