It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Norman Edward Doucette age 79 of Amherst and formerly of Chignecto on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Colchester Regional Hospital in Truro, NS.
Born May 19, 1933 in St. John, NB, Norman was a son of the late Eddie and Mary (Snider) Doucette.
Norman proudly served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders as a peacekeeper in Germany. Norman settled back home to Amherst following his service, and later moved to Ontario where he held several occupations. He found great pleasures in hunting, fishing, gardening and was proud of his gun and knife collections at his home in Chignecto.
He will be lovingly remembered by his son Eddie (Heather Milton) Doucette; grandchildren, Tressa (Kris) Reid, and Joevon (Stacey White) Doucette all of Chignecto; great grandsons, Jackson and Kobe Reid; stepson, Bill (Louise) Lorette, Amherst; brother, Raymond (Donna) Doucette, Brampford ON; sister, Kay (Al) Roth, Georgetown ON; special friend, Billy Collins, Joggins; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Besides his parents, Norman was predeceased by his wife, Inez (Dwyer) Doucette; stepsons, Jack Dwyer and Richard Lorette; sisters, Hazel Hilchey, Yvonne Gould and Shirley Brown; and brother, Donnie Doucette.
Cremation has taken place.
A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8:30 p.m. all in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, (667-9906). Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 2:00 p.m., from Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Interment will take place in the Maccan Cemetery followed by a reception in the Maccan Community Centre.
