PJ Joseph MacIntyre
In Memory
“PJ” Joseph MacIntyre
Today the once “Fabulous Four” raise our rums in memory of Peter “PJ” Joseph MacIntyre, who passed away suddenly December 7th, 2009
We will keep broken things:
The echoes of bagpipes*
Swirling over diamond Mira waters*
We will keep broken things;
Tattered tartan, sgian dubh;*
Well worn, lay empty*
We will keep broken things;
The memory of those long, delicious night swims
With you
We will keep broken things;
In our houses there remains
An honored shelf
On which we will keep broken things
Their beauty is: they need not ever be fixed
We will keep your wild, free laughter
Though it is now missing
Its’ reassuring and deep* hinge
We will keep broken things,
We will keep you.
Pilgrims of sorrow,
We will keep ourselves*.
~Alice Walker (amended*)
What we share publicly today, we think privately every day of the year; we miss and love you PJ. You are always with us.
