Laurie Everett Bowman
Bowman, Laurie Everett – 80, Hilden, (Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro), passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012, surrounded by his loving family, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Nine Mile River, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Mae (MacPhee) Bowman. Laurie retired after 37 years of service with CNR as General Yard Master. He enjoyed golfing, dancing, bowling and watching the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs. He was a lifetime member of the Hilden United Church. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren and his special friends at Cedarstone. He is survived by daughters, Linda (Bob) Conway, Hilden, Donna, Bible Hill; sons, Larry (Donna), Onslow Mountain, Jack (Sandra), Shortt’s Lake; sister, Myrna Jordan; brother, Leo; grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Boyd, D.J. (Donnie) Cameron, Jennifer (Troy) Conway, Jeff (Misty) Bowman, Alicia (Anthony) Bowman; step-grandchildren, Jeremy and Cheyenne; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy (O’Connell). Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 1 from 7-9 pm; funeral service on Friday, November 2 at 2:00 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Ian Harrison officiating. Interment in Middle Stewiacke Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
