It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Raoul Edward DeLaval ‘Ray’ on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at the age of 53.
Born in Barrie, Ont., Ray was the son of the late Maurice and Gladys (Richardson) DeLaval.
Ray will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Sherri; son, Troy (Simone); brothers and sisters, George (Bernadette), Betty, Johnny (Georgina), Robert, Gloria, Billy, Blair (Laurie). Ray will also be missed by his mother-in-law, Irene Jones, brother-in-law, Donald (Heather) Jones; sister-in-law, Tanya Jones.
Ray has touched so many lives through his 53 years. He will be missed by all his family and many friends.
Besides his parents, Ray was predeceased by a brother, Bruce DeLaval; brother-in-law, Jack Haydu; beloved pets, King and Taz and best friends, Tommy Deere and Marie Mayo.
Ray was a loving husband and caring father. Ray was a hard working, lovable man, who would help anyone no matter what. He opened his heart and home to so many friends and family members. Ray could make you laugh with his corky sense of humour, and his little one liners would bring a smile to anyone. Living in Calgary for most of his life, Ray moved to Glace Bay in 2009 where he met several new friends and coworkers who also were taken in by his big heart. Ray was able to slow down a little and was truly happy in Cape Breton.
Ray's family are honouring his wishes. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
