Reginald (Reg) Edwin Redden, 79, of Pigott Lake, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 27, 2012, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born on January 2, 1933, in Martock, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Neil Harris Redden and Winnifred Winnie Burnett (Taylor) Redden. Reg was a member of the Bedford Lions Club for over 40 years. In his early years, he and his brothers, Laurie and John started Redden Brother’s Development and developed Oakmount Subdivision, Bedford and numerous houses in the area. Reg, later went on to develop Ridgevale, Pinehill Estates, Riverside Estates, Oakridge, Halfway Lake Park and Nottingham Subdivision. He was co-founder of Metro Windows & Doors. Reg enjoyed life, his family, the company of his grandchildren and his many friends, young and old. Reg is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Dorothy Ellen Lockhart; his children, Jerry (Cheryl) Redden, Deloraine, Manitoba; Greg (Louise) Redden, Bedford; Pam (Peter) Maloney, Bedford; grandchildren, Meghan, Jarrett and Stefan Redden; Crystal (Jari) Virtanen and Nic Redden; Ben, Jake and Ted Maloney; siblings, Lois Smith, Lower Vaughan’s; his twin, Robert “Bob” (Pat) Redden, Three Mile Plains; sisters-in-law, Shirley Smith, Eleanor Redden, Carol Redden, Velma Redden, Carol Oakley, Ruth Redden, Jean Schofield, and Joan Lockhart; brothers-in-law, Carl Atwell and Maurice Lockhart; numerous nieces and nephews. Reg was predeceased by his parents, Neil and Winnie (Taylor) Redden; siblings, Bruce Redden; twins, Sam (Margaret) Redden and Alice (Norris) Wilson; Marjorie (Minard) Brown; twins, Ernest Redden and Laurie Redden; Milford Redden; John Redden; Clarie Redden; Gordon Redden; Mary Atwell; and Vernon (Mary) Redden; brothers-in-law, John Smith and Charlie Schofield. Visitation was 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Memorial service was 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012, in the Windsor United Baptist Church, 411 King Street, Windsor. The Rev. Jeffrey White officiated, followed by a reception in the Windsor United Baptist Church Annex. A private family committal service was held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 31, at the Brookside Cemetery, Wardour Street, Bedford. Family flowers only.
