Ferdinand: Carson Leon: It is with broken heart, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved angel Carson Leon Ferdinand on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Colchester Regional Hospital Truro. Born on December 30, 1940, Londonderry, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Charles and Grace (Rushton) Ferdinand of Westchester Station. Carson was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a friend to all who knew him and took so much joy in dancing, fishing and summers at Sunset Watch Campground. He especially enjoyed spending great times at his hunting camp on Higgins Mountain with his sons and family friends. Carson was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed his role as a Eucharistic Minister to the elderly. Carson is survived by his best friend and soul mate Jackie (Walsh), his loving children, Michelle (Scott), Kentville, David (Robin), Fredericton, Darren (Michelle), Truro, and Jaclyn (Tony) Hendsbee, Truro; his ten precious grandchildren, Paige, Brett, Madeline, Blake, Matthew, Carson, Shea, Payton, Luke and Raylee; his sister, Brenda (Jim) Fisher, Hilden; his sister-in-law, Polly Ferdinand, Westchester Station, along with many nieces and nephews and close family members. He was predeceased by his brothers, Willis ans Winston and his sister Roberta. The family would especially like to thank family friend and physician, Dr. Frank Slipp and the nurses of 4 East. Arrangements entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, where family members will receive visitors on Friday evening, November 9 between the hours of 6-9 pm. Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, November 10 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Prince Street Truro with Father Francesco Dirisi officiating. A reception will follow in Campbell Hall. If so desired, donations in Carson’s memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society or a charity of choice.
