Josephine 'Cupie' Penny

It is with much sorrow we announce the passing of our mother, Josephine 'Cupie' Penny, 88, of Golden Pond, Sydney Mines, on Monday, November 5, 2012, at the Northside General Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Peter and Willena (King) LeBlanc.
She proudly graduated as a nurse from the Hamilton Memorial Hospital Class of 1944, and worked in the profession she loved until her later years. She was a member of the Sydney Mines Seniors & Pensioners Club, and had many friends with whom she shared many fond memories.
She will be remembered as a fun loving, hardworking and independent lady. She had a passion for playing cards and games of chance. She enjoyed a good joke or prank. She had many friends, and was happy to pass on her extensive knowledge in nursing, sewing, fishing, upholstery, cooking (especially lobster) and assisting anyone who needed help. She was a devoted church member and assisted whenever she was able.
She will be sadly missed by her children; Leo, Fletcher’s Lake, and Pamela Morrison, Dartmouth; grandchildren Debbie, Brandie and Christopher; great-grandchildren Linkin, Jesse and Isabella, and brothers-in-law Cyril Reashor, Florence, and Louis Rasmussen, Ontario. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
She was predeceased by her long-time companion Raymond Whitty; her first husband Daniel; brothers Elmer, George and Claude; sisters Irene, Helen, Edith, Muriel, Mildred and Idella ‘Honey’; granddaughter Shannon Ferguson and son-in-law Robert (Bob) Morrison.
Visitation will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Friday, November 9, 2012, from 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, Florence, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. The burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Florence. After the service, a reception will take place in the parish hall.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to a charity of your choice.
