Joseph 'Joe' McCormick

Born In: Glace Bay

Passed on: November 7th, 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joe McCormick at the Glace Bay Hospital on Wednesday, November 7, after a short illness.
Born in Glace Bay, Joe was well known for his love of baseball, in which he was honourary bat boy, for many teams. He also enjoyed darts, having a game of cards with the family and at any time could be found down Tim Horton’s drinking coffee, as well as hanging around Gerald’s Ultramar with his buddies. He will be missed by many.
Joe is survived by brothers Austin (with whom he resided), Frank (at home); sisters, Bernette, Glace Bay and Delores (British Columbia); many special nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Bernie and Mary McCormick; a very special sister-in-law, Mary and niece Gloria Pyke.
As per Joe’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation on Sunday, November 11, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass celebrating Joe’s life will be held on Monday, November 12, at 11 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church. The Rev. Leo Boone will be officiating. The interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.jmcurryfuneralhome.com.
The family want to thank all of the staff at the Glace Bay Hospital.
