Donald ‘Donnie’ Innis MacDermid, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on November 10, 2012, at Inverary Manor, Inverness.
He was born in Big Intervale, May 10, 1927. Son of the late George and Margaret (MacInnis) MacDermid.
A man of many talents, he is best known for building and flying his own airplanes.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years Doris (Ingraham) of Belle Cote; daughters Edie (Leo) MacDougall, Washabuck, Evelyn (Kevin) Carmichael, Helen (Daniel) Stewart both of Margaree Valley and a son Ian (John) MacDermid of Dartmouth. Grandchildren Troy, Douglas, Nicholas, Nathan, Coralee and Lindsay. Great-grandchildren Ethan, Paris, Adam, Molly and Dawson. Cousin Marion (MacInnis) Lewis and many members of an extended family.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant sister, cousins Catherine and Dolly.
Visitation for the late Mr. MacDermid will be held today, Tuesday November 13 from 2-9 p.m. at Wilson United Church Hall, Margaree Centre. Funeral service, Wednesday, November 14 at 2 p.m. at Wilson United Church. Committal will take place in Margaree Baptist Church Cemetery, Margaree Valley, Rev. Norma Mills officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to L’arche Cape Breton, Orangedale, Wilson United Church Building Fund or Charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements for Mr. MacDermid are under the care and direction of Sunset Funeral Cooperative Ltd., Margaree Valley.
