Donald Polson Ross

Donald Polson Ross - Formerly of Little Harbour Road, New Glasgow N.S. and Napanee, ON. "I was glad when they said to me, let us go into the house of the Lord" - Psalm 122:1 - Peacefully let go of life, Friday November 9, 2012 in his 103rd year. Born on Fraser’s Mountain July 4th, 1910, eldest son of Roderick and Catherine (Stroud) Ross. For most of his life he was employed as a machinist with Hawker Siddeley, Trenton N.S until retirement. He was a lover of all animals and wildlife, an avid reader and held a great interest for trains. In the summer he would spend many hours on his tractor “Billy Dan” creating bountiful vegetable gardens, cutting the hay on the family homestead or just lying about in his lawn chair under the nearest shade tree. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Wilena (Higgins) December 2007, brother Duncan , sisters Marjorie, Mary and Helen as well as a brother in infancy. He is survived by his daughter Debbie, son in law Doug Ellis, Napanee Ontario and brother Bill Ross, Little Harbour Rd., New Glasgow N.S. along with nieces and nephews. His “good little cat” Maggie May misses him as well. Also remembering him fondly are the Higgins sisters, Becky, Lyla, Eylene, and Jaye plus Higgins brothers Borden and Curtis and niece Sandra DeMings. Cremation has taken place and Interment at the Heatherdale Memorial Gardens will take place at a future date. May his eternal rest be surrounded by blue skies he can see, the sweet songs of the birds he can hear, the company of all the animals that were so dear to him and reunited friendships with all the boys down at the shop.
