Audrey MacDonald (Ross) Reid

Reid, Audrey MacDonald (Ross) - 89, Truro, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 10, 2012 in the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Amherst, NS on January 11, 1923, Audrey was the daughter of the late Ronald "Scoop" and Sarah (MacDonald) Ross. Audrey spent her early years in Amherst and moved to Truro in 1951. She was a devoted wife and mother, raising her two boys after the sudden death of their Dad, Eric. She found a second chance at love with Jack Reid and they formed a close knit and loving family. Audrey was a much respected member of the First United Church, Truro, enjoyed Bridge Club, lunch with the girls anytime and for many years, wonderful summers at Shortt’s Lake. She was a long time member for over 61 years and past president of the Truro Golf Club. Audrey was a member of the Isgonish Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (IODE), Ladies Hospital Auxiliary and active in many other local charities which she held dear to her heart. Audrey is survived by her son, Ross (Emelie) Archibald, River Hebert and daughter-in-law, Karen Archibald, Truro. Grandmother to Hilary, Calgary, AB, Claire, Rhode Island, Kay, Reid and Mary Archibald of Truro; aunt to Sarah and Andy Stapleton, Sutton, ON, John and Mary Wilmot, Calgary, AB, Andrew (Sue) Mason, Haliburton, ON, David Mason, Calgary, AB, Peter Mason, Toronto, ON and Donald (Joan) Mason, Fredericton, NB. Audrey was predeceased by her first husband, Eric F. Archibald, second husband, Dr. J.B. (Jack) Reid; daughter, Ann Archibald; son, Adam Archibald and sister, Betty Wilmot. A celebration of Audrey's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 15 in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, Rev. Valerie Kingsbury officiating, assisted by Rev. David MacNaughton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Out of the Cold, Truro or to a charity of your choice.
