HAMM, Samuel passed November 9, 2012 in Vancouver, BC at 68 years of age. Samuel Hamm was born October 19, 1944. Sam was the only child of David and Sarah Hamm. He grew up north of Herbert, where he attended school. During summer holidays, Sam would work on ranches. He loved horses, cattle and being outdoors. He was a true cowboy at heart. He married Elma, a rancher’s daughter from Eastend, SK. They moved to Winnipeg, where he got his journeyman heavy duty mechanic certificate. His wife died of cancer. Sam raised four small children alone. They moved to Vancouver area, where Sam worked as a BC government safety inspector for transport vehicles until his retirement at age 63. On November 5, 2012 he had surgery on one lung that had cancer. There were complications and he did not survive the operation. His request was to be cremated and his ashes spread on the old ranch trails where he loved to ride. Sam was predeceased by his parents, David and Sarah and by his wife Elma. He is survived by his sons Samuel and Richard of Vancouver area and by his daughters Leslie and Debbie of Winnipeg, MB; five grandchildren and by his special friend, Pat Stockbrocks of Aldergrove, BC. He will be sadly missed by his family and by his many friends. A celebration of Sam’s life was held on November 13, 2012 in Aldergrove, BC.
