Kathleen (Kay) Meech-Lowther

Meech-Lowther, Kathleen (Kay) - 86 Truro, N.S. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother on November 12, 2012 at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro, N.S. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of Arthur and Helen (Dooley) Mummery. During her earlier years in Halifax she was a member of the Fairview Legion, N.S. Liberal Party Association and the St. Pat’s Social Club where she had a passion for music and dancing. Kay and her husband Roy settled in Fairview where she was active in the community. After becoming widowed at a young age, she showed her entrepreneurial spirit early on when she opened Meech’s Grocery while raising her four children. Kay’s work ethic was one of her best qualities and she always provided the best for her family. Kay and her second husband Doug moved to Truro in 1971 when they purchased the Willow Bend Motel. She was a member of the Truro Golf Club and was proud of her hole in one. She enjoyed spending time with her family and some of her best memories include times with her grandchildren and her winters spent in Florida with family and friends. She is survived by her children Kenneth (Lois), Donald (Michele), Kathy (Paul) O’Hearn and Ronald (Janet), grandchildren Roy, Kim, Brad, Brett, Blake, Jonathan, Jennifer, and Ryan; six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Roy and second husband Douglas.
