Margaret Mackay

Mackay, Margaret E. – 96, of Parrsboro passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 at All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Moncton, she was a daughter of the late Leslie and Laura (Miller) MacMurdo. She operated, with her husband, Fraemar Enterprises in Parrsboro for many years. She was well known throughout the area for her handcrafted jewelry, having supplied many craft shops and shows throughout the region. She was a past member of the Cumberland Geological Society and Trinity United Church, among numerous other organizations throughout the community. She is survived by daughters, Jeanne Smith, Judy Morris (Gary), of Parrsboro; Laura Mackay (Ron Kneis), Sechelt, B.C.; sons, John (Ann Marie), Lake Wylie, SC; Les (Carol), Halifax; Gerry (Brenda), White Rock, B.C.; Jim, Dartmouth; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Fraser in 1991; twin daughters in infancy; a son in law, Bud Smith; a great-great granddaughter, Chelsea; a sister in infancy; brothers, Jewel, Reginald, Harry, Beecher, Jack. Visitation 6-8 p.m. on Thursday (November 15, 2012) at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Friday [November 16, 2012] at Trinity United Church, Parrsboro, Keith Selwyn-Smith, DLM officiating. Burial in the Parrsboro United Cemetery.
