Passed peacefully away in the home that he built, surrounded by his family, Marshall Herbert Bursey “Flash,” aged 86 years. Born in Old Perlican, July 6, 1926. Survived by his wife and partner of 59 years, Suzanne (Angel) and four children: Marsha (Keith Pond), Rhonda (Herb Gibbons), Julia (Terry George), Marshall Jr. (Tara Coady); nine grandchildren: Ryan George, Herb Gibbons III, Torrie George, Matthew Andrews, Jesse Gibbons, Chelsa George, Jay Andrews, Hailey Gibbons and baby Jack Marshall Bursey; brother, Murley Bursey (Shirley) and sisters: Geraldine McClurg and Mona Greenwood; also sisters-in-law: Phyllis and Alice Bursey. Predeceased by Momma and Poppa William and Julia Bursey; brothers: Stanley, Field, Ray, Roy and sisters: Florence and June. Marshall was a “fish merchant” all his life at Fort Amherst Seafoods as well as a longtime businessman and founder of Variety Foods Ltd. Dad will always be remembered partridge hunting on the barrens, at Bore Pond, “making magic” by pulling coins from his grandchildren’s ears, building his latest project and watching the sunset over Perlican Island. Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may visit the family at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from Gower Street United Church. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Gower Street United Church Youth Band.
