Watson Lane

1935-2012, age 77, of Station Road, Glovertown, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 in the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre in Botwood. Born July 23, 1935 on Bragg’s Island, NL, he was the son of the late Edgar Lane and Amelia (Feltham) Lane. Watson was a graduate of the Glovertown High School and Memorial University. He was a member of the Newfoundland Teacher’s Association from 1952-1982. He was the Commanding Officer 727 Squadron Air Cadets in Glovertown from 1962-1969. He was appointed Justice of Peace in 1967. He also served on many community councils and advisory boards. Watson was a teacher, fisherman, hunter, boat builder, tour boat operator, poet, storyteller and an enthusiastic and entertaining guitar player. Surviving are his ex-wife Audrey (Burt); sons: Peter of Fredricton, NB, Andre of San Diego, CA; daughters: Alexandra of Weirton, ON, Jillian of Dartmouth, NS and grandchildren: Andrew, Stephen, Kevin, as well as brothers: Harvey, Clayton and Wayne.
