SIMPSON, MERTON - 1939 - 2012 - It is with profound sadness that the family of Merton Simpson of Moncton formerly of Murray Corner announces his passing on November 16, 2012 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Born on June 6, 1939 in Little Shemogue, son of the late Robert and Velda (Dulenty) Simpson. He was a fisherman for many years, owner and operator of M.D. Simpson & Son and active in the trucking industry. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years Lorraine (Field) Simpson, three children; Lise (Ernest) Merrell of Deep Brook, NS, Michele (David) Pauley of Mates Corner, NB and Jason Simpson of Bayfield, NB. The five shining stars of his life his grandchildren, Lloyd (Emily Steeves) Merrell, Tyler (Kelly Donavan) Pauley, Kyle (Amber Fernie) Merrell, Spencer Pauley and the only granddaughter, Kathleen Simpson. Also one step granddaughter Lauryn Donavan. He also leaves to morn five sisters; Nettie (John) Gallant, Arlen (Bill) Reade, Lois (Blaine) Nicholson, Gwen (Raymond) Phinney, Cora (Randy) Hogan, three brothers; John (Bonnie) Simpson, Arthur (Isabelle) Simpson and Thomas (Carol) Simpson and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one sister, Wiletta Goodwin and step mother Zora Simpson.
As per Merton’s wishes there will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Murray Corner United Church on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 2:00 pm under the direction of Rev. Bill Drysdale DLM. Many thanks to our family physician Dr. Caroline Simard also the Dr's and Nurses of the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital for the outstanding care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Murray Corner First United Church. Arrangements entrusted with Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton, (506) 852-3530.
