CLOSE, GORDON - Gordon Thomas Close, a lifelong resident of Salisbury passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 at home in his ninety- ninth year. Born at the Scott Road he was a son of the late John W. and Gertrude (Lounsbury) Close. In his early working years he was a mechanic at Ern Bannister's Garage and he retired from N.B. Power. He was a founding member and awarded a lifetime membership at the Petitcodiac Valley Golf and Country Club where he played his last round in September of this year. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and fishing. Survived and sadly missed by his sons John (Jack) and Gordon Jr. (Alan) and his wife (MayMay) of Salisbury, his daughter in law Rebecca Close of Moncton; cherrished grandchildren Craig, Carmen Benaquista, Chantal Steel, Cory, Carol Jensen, Jennifer Close, Kara Close, Gregory and 13 great grandchildren. Survived also by a sister Estella Douthwright; brothers Allison (Clara) and Roy, by several nieces and nephews, and inlaws Bella Spence (late Clarence), Eileen Maxwell (Jim), Dorothy Stiles (Earle).. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Reta (2006); a son Gregory; sisters Annie Gamblin and Ruth Armstrong and brothers Wilfred and Stanley.
Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home with visiting Wednesday, November 21 from 1:30 p.m. until time of the funeral at 3 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Tim MacKinnon officiating.
