Wilfred Neil Horton

It is with great sadness we the family announce the peaceful passing of Wilfred Neil Horton at his home in Englishtown.
Born in Little Bras d’Or, he was the son of the late John William and Marion Horton.
Wilfred spent his life making a living from the sea as a lobster fisherman and enjoyed every moment on his boat. He will forever be missed for his big smile and boisterous laugh. He had a heart of gold and was always happy to lend a hand.
Besides his parents, Wilfred was predeceased by his wife, Ann Marie (Fortune) two brothers, Jack and John Alexander and two sisters, Norma and Evelyn.
Wilfred is survived by his son, William (Ronnie), Big Harbour; daughter, Marion (Iven), Bay St. Lawrence; and his greatest joy were his grandchildren, Michael, Englishtown, Alicia Rose, Bay St. Lawrence, Jamie Marie, Big Harbour, Michael, River Bennet, Mitchell, Big Harbour; and his great-granddaughter, Rhilee Dawn. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, George (Linda), Baddeck; nieces, Joan (Nelson), Evelyn (Bruce), Debbie (Joe) and nephew, John Alexander.
Visitation will be held at St. Marks Presbyterian Church, Englishtown, 2-9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, with Rev. Brian MacLeod officiating with burial to follow at Bay View Cemetery.
Funeral is under the care and direction of MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck.
