With heavy hearts we regret to announce the passing of a devoted wife, mother and grandmother on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012. Sharon passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer.
She was a longtime employee of Zellers Brantford and looked forward to working daily with her many friends. She enjoyed dancing, playing darts, gardening and enjoying life to the fullest.
Loving wife of Gerard ‘Jiggers’ McNeil. Devoted mother of Deanne (Lawrence) Ellis of Sydney, Allan (Anne) Smith of Mississauga, Ont., Tracey (Gerard) Burke and Patti Smith of Brantford, Ont. She was loved dearly by each of her 14 grandchildren who referred to her as Nanny Sharon.
Sharon also leaves behind her mother, Pauline (Usher) of Gardiner Mines; sisters, Pat Singler, Helen (Al) Rempel of Ontario and Andrea (John Michael) Tomiczek of Dominion; brothers, Ron (Bernie), Gary (Donna) and Paul (Donna) of Gardiner Mines; mother-in-law, Aletha of Dominion; sisters-in-law, Shirley DeDieu, Cathy Little of Dominion and Margaret (Malcolm) Lissone of British Columbia; brother-in-law, Hector (Marie) of Gardiner Mines; life-long friends, Rena and Fred Wilcox of Brantford, Ont.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Predeced by father, Andrew, father-in-law, Angus, brothers-in-law, David and Angus.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 9 Waverly St., Brantford, Ont., on Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of mass at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Stedman Community Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
