Born In: Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada

Passed on: November 15th, 2012

BUTLER (Holmes), Doris Mae, 90, formerly of Sandy Point, Shelburne County, passed away peacefully at the North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia, on Thursday, November 15, 2012. Born in Sandy Point Doris was a daughter of the late Wellington and Janie (Goodick) Holmes. Doris can be best described as a wonderful mother with a big heart and a strange, dry sense of humour that really only showed later in life. Mom loved to tell stories of her trips to NWT, to BC and most of all her many, many trips to Newfoundland where she fished, ventured into the woods, and was chased by a moose and outran her daughter. While she had her sight she loved to knit and make quilts for her family, many of which still don our beds. Doris is survived by her sons, George (Sharon), Pinehurst; Gary, British Columbia; David (Diane), Jordan Falls; Dale, British Columbia, and daughter, Dianne (Wayne) Huskins, Caledonia; special daughter, Bonnie (Kevin) Snow, Lockeport; many grandchildren and great grand-children; brother, Lawrence (Geneveria) Holmes. She was predeceased by husband, Norman; daughter, Janie; brothers, Netson, Bertrum and sister Kathryn. No visitation by request of the family. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, November 20 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Shelburne, with Pastor Wayne Dooks officiating. Donations may be made to CAPS (Companion Animal Protection Society), P.O. Box 363, Middleton, NS B0S 1P0 or charity of choice. A special thank you to the staff at North Queens Nursing Home- your kindness did not go unnoticed. On-line condolences may be sent to: hmhuskilson@ns.aliantzinc.ca or you may sign the guest book at www.huskilson.net Rest in peace, my Beauty Queen
