James 'Jimmy' MacKenzie

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James John MacKenzie on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Christmas Island, he was the son of the late Alex J. and Margaret (MacNeil) MacKenzie.
He is survived by four sisters, Catherine MacKenzie, Theresa George, Flora MacNeil, all of Christmas Island, Margaret ‘Peggy’ Mills, Colorado. He leaves behind nephew Sandy and Mary Lucina and their girls; who for many years cared for Jimmy. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Hector and Mary MacKenzie, Michael and Kay MacKenzie, Joe and Peggy MacKenzie, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Annie and Jim MacNeil, Mary Ann and Michael Small, four brothers-in-law, John Joe MacKenzie, James George, Murdock MacNeil and Robert Mills.
Visitation for the late Mr. MacKenzie will be held at St. Barra Church, Christmas Island, on Monday, Nov. 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 11 a.m. in St. Barra Church with Rev. Paul Abbass officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery, Christmas Island.
Donations may be made to the Christmas Island Cemetery Fund or Kidney Dialysis Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
