Joseph Andre Bennett

Born In: Frenchvale, Nova Scotia, Canada

Passed on: November 25th, 2012

It is with deep sorrow we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Andre Bennett, 58, on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
He was the son of Mary Jeanette Bennett, and the late William ‘Billy’ Bennett of Frenchvale.
Andre was a true family man, who not only cherished his wife and daughters, but his mother, brothers and sisters as well. His friends and co-workers were a big part of his life and he cared about them all.
Andre was a huge sports fan, and could always entertain his family and friends with his knowledge of sports trivia. A Montreal Canadiens fan, through and through, he rarely missed a game. He was also a great hockey player himself, and enjoyed every aspect of the game. Baseball took a close second to his love for hockey.
Andre was a longtime employee of Beechmount Quarry where he was a conciencious and hard working — part of a great team of workers. He also appreciated the visits from Dave and Lorne, two of his co-workers during his illness. He was admired by all who knew him and will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched.
Left to mourn Andre is his loving and devoted wife of 25 years, Shirley (MacInnis). His cherished daughters, Jenna and Apri,l at home. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Jeanette; sisters, Jessie (Billy) McCormick, Angela (Paul) Wilton; brothers, Donnie, Roddie (Agnes), Terry, Barry, Bruce (Rebecca), Paul, Darcy (Tobi); and many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Mother-in-law Lois MacInnis, sisters-in-law, Heather Johnston, Jean (Gardiner) Potter, brother-in-law, David MacInnis and sister-in-law, Angie Bennett, who all loved him dearly.
He was predeceased by his father, brothers, Barry Francis in infancy, John Cecil and Blaine; also father-in-law, Wilbert MacInnis and brother-in-law, Gerald Johnston.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at St. Mary’s Church, 1769 Frenchvale Rd., with Fr. Paul Abbass officiating. Interment to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
