It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Lukoni in Trail, BC on Nov. 16, 2012 at the age of 76. John was born in Silverpark, Sask. On Dec 12, 1935 to Michael & Elizabeth Lukoni (Lukawyj).
He was predeceased by his wife Marilyn ‘09 (Leavens), five sisters, Mary (Cliff) Sellers, Marg (Art) Neubauer, Pauline (Jack) Hogg, Ann (Al) Simpson, Rose (Harry) Prentice and brother Mike (Jean) Lukoni.
John leaves behind his only son Daniel (Dawn), three grandchildren Mike (Aaron), Jessica (Chris) & Nick (Kaitlyn), three great-grandchildren, Jaden (Jessica & Chris), Cambria & Karis (Mike & Aaron) and many nieces, nephews and life long friends.
His family moved to BC in the late 40s and he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Feb ‘54 at 19 yrs old and worked as a lead Aircraftman and Airframe Technician until Feb ‘57. In June ‘57 he started with BC Rail in Shalalth. John worked up & down the BC Rail line from North Vancouver to Fort Nelson. In ‘79 he moved back to Lillooet and retired in ‘95. He was a long time member of the legion and enjoyed his free time tinkering with neighbor’s small engines, fishing, hunting, golfing and prospecting.
The family would like to thank Dr. Miller & staff, Bev Grossler & Lillooet home support staff. Dr. Stanley, Trail Hospital nursing staff, Columbia View Lodge nursing staff & Trail Hospice for all of their support in John’s last few weeks. He passed away peacefully surrounded by love ones.
John will be cremated and laid to rest beside his wife, Marilyn. A quiet family service will be held in the spring. John will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
