September 5, 1924 - November 28, 2012. Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, L.A. Miller Centre, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by parents: Alphonsus and Mary Power (Howlett); brothers: Gerard (Genevieve), Dermot; sister Josephine (John O’Rielly) and father-in-law Albert O’Keefe. Leaving to celebrate his life with fond and 48 years of loving memories, his wife Anita (O’Keefe); daughters: Michelle (Darren), Maureen (Barry) and son Walter (Alaine); grandchildren: Tyler, Jessica, Ryan and Christa; mother-in-law, Molly O’Keefe. Walter leaves behind many memories with his nieces and nephews, especially nephews: Al Power and Alastair O’Rielly and many family and friends, especially Percy and Alison McDonald. Walter will be resting at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Saturday, December 1 from 2 - 9, Sunday, December 2 from 2 - 9 and Mass of Christian burial to take place from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Tors Cove on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Tors Cove. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to Tors Cove Playground.
