Anne (Co-Dyre) Surette

Born In: Sydney
Born: November 5th, 1954

Passed on: December 2nd, 2012

Anne Irene Surette, formerly Anne Co-Dyre passed away from a brief illness on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at the QE|| Health Science Centre in Halifax, N.S.
Born in Sydney on Nov. 5,1954, she was the daughter of the late Irene and Francis Co-Dyre.
In her youth she attended school in Big Pond, East Bay School then finishing at Riverview. Some of her best days during her youth were spent on the pond in Ben Eoin skating until dark, and summers, swimming days on end in the Bras d’Or Lake. Anne had amazing creative talents with an exceptional flare for Victorian decor. She utilized these talents with her husband Gary, together decorating beautiful cakes for all occasions such as weddings. She was most at home when she was gardening, tending to her roses was a simple pleasure she enjoyed. She adored Cape Breton Island and all it's wonderful treasures. She was most at peace when she was near the ocean or when listening to Celtic music. To her family, she was known as the “cat whisperer”, she had such compassion for all of God’s creatures, especially cats.
Anne also enjoyed cooking and entertaining. It was not unusual to go to dinner at Anne's and have less than a five course meal. Her dream was to go to Ireland, England and Paris, although she never did it, perhaps she will be there in spirit now.
Anne survived by her husband, Gary Surette, to whom she was married for 22 years. Anne is also survived by her only daughter, Carmen Co-Dyre Adams (Craig Adams); grandchild, Ryan Adams and brother, Gary Co-Dyre.
Anne was predeceased by her brother, Joey Co-Dyre
A special thanks to the wonderful and exceptionally caring nurses and doctors at the ICU and IMCU at the QE|| in Halifax, in particular Janet and Rita. Special thanks to Dr. Mark Sampson of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
No visitation by request please, as well as family flowers only. Funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Church in Big Pond on Saturday Dec. 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. Reception following at the Big Pond Fire Hall.
