Allison Buchanan, East Bay, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at home.
Al was born Oct. 14, 1956 in Sydney, the son of Annie (MacInnis) and the late Allister Buchanan.
Al was Operations Manager for Co-op Atlantic, Sydney Distribution Center, prior to that he worked at Scotsburn Dairy, Truro and Dartmouth. Al enjoyed the many projects he did around his home, as well as his volunteer work. He was deputy chief of the East Bay Volunteer Fire Department, treasurer of the CBRM Fire Chief's Association, and a CBRM Fire Education Instructor.
Al is survived by his mother; his wife Nancy Sullivan; his daughters, Adele Buchanan (Dave Flahr), Halifax, Amber Buchanan, Sydney and his stepson, Glenn (Melanie) Cooke, Calgary, Alta.; grandchildren, Lemuira Sadie Buchanan and Jonah Alan Cooke; sisters, Colleen Cooke (Tim) and Janet MacNeil (Tim); brothers, Lee (Dawna Christie) and Rodney (Trish).
Funeral service for Al Buchanan will be held at St. Mary's Church, 3944 East Bay Hwy., East Bay, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery immediately after the service, followed by reception at the East Bay Volunteer Fire Department, 3542 East Bay Highway, East Bay.
