It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of their husband, father, grandfather and brother, Jim Finlayson on Dec. 9, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Ashford) Finlayson.
Jim at one time was owner and operator of Jim’s Service Station, located on the corner of Heelan Street and Ellsworth Avenue, New Waterford. He deeply enjoyed the sport of fishing, looked forward to his daily morning routine of feeding his birds, and he had a great passion for playing the guitar.
Jim is survived by his wife, Valarie (Hampicke); daughters, Marie, British Columbia, Gail (George) Lowes and Glory; son, Steven (Rosemary); brother, Brian, all of Ontario; grandchildren, Samantha, Taylor, Miranda, Breanna, Shayna, Dezi, Natalie and Shane.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by brothers, Johnnie, Reggie and a sister in infancy.
Cremation has taken place. A chapel service in McLellan Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at 2 p.m with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Interment in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown, N.S.
