Margaret Mary Cochrane (nee Power)

Passed on: December 12th, 2012

April 28, 1925 - December 12, 2012. It is with great sadness we announce that our Mother, Margaret, passed peacefully away, with quiet grace and dignity, at Kenny’s Pond Retirement Residence, on December 12th, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 87. A Bell Island native, our Mother is predeceased by her loving husband Cecil, parents, William Power and Mary (Sullivan), and brothers Gerald, Patrick, Lawrence and Hubert. Among the many she is leaving to mourn with broken hearts are her daughters Maureen (Cyril Anstey), Ann (Wayne Inkpen) of Edmonton, and sons Bill, Brian (Neila), Cecil (Myrtle) of Churchill Falls, Bob (Pam) and Cyril (Angela) of Ottawa and her very special niece Catherine (Wally Roul) of Riverview, NB. Also left to mourn are her brothers William (Ellen) of Brampton, Cyril (Julie) and Brian (Marilyn) of Niagara Falls. She will be sadly missed by her sixteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends. Throughout her life she touched so many people, be it through her large and active Bell Island family, to the many acquaintances of her sons and daughters and of course through her years of nursing at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital. Our home was always an active place and the neighbourhood emergency ward because everyone knew, Marg Cochrane was always on duty. A devoted caregiver all of her life she was extremely appreciative of, and we give tremendous thanks to the staff of Kenny’s Pond Retirement Residence and to Dr. Patrick O’Shea for their care and compassion. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation will be held Thursday and Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Mary Queen of Peace Church, Torbay Road, on Saturday, December 15th, 2012, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Right to Life Association or Daffodil Place are appreciated.
