ATWOOD, Barbara Anne – 80, Arcadia, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born November 1, 1932 in Roberts Island, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah (Surette) Doucette. Barbara was a homemaker who also enjoyed reading, sewing and volunteering with many charities. She is survived by her children, Kenny (Christine) Atwood, Sandra Zywot, both of Toronto; Karen Surette, Yarmouth, as well as by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Robert (Dora) Doucette, Deerfield; Donald (Darla) Doucette, Ottawa; Lawrence (Hazel) Doucette, South Ohio; sisters, Blanche Moulaison, Yarmouth; Helena (Paul) Myers, Boston; Evelyn Bourque, Halifax. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Curtis Frank Atwood; a brother, Harvey Doucette and a sister, Mildred Doucette. In accordance with Barbara’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There was no visitation or memorial service. Interment has taken place at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
