CHILDS, COLIN JAMES - September 5, 1944 - December 16, 2012 - Beloved husband, dad, grampy and friend. Colin was born in Montreal, QC on September 5, 1944, the only child of Anne Smith (MacDonald) and Albert Childs. He was a teacher for many years; Colin taught at New Albert School, then at Centennial School as Vice-Principal and Principal. Many will remember him as “Mr. C.” After his retirement in 1995, he enjoyed traveling abroad and returned to teaching, this time as an ESL teacher and principal at a school in Beijing, P.R. China. Colin believed that the secret to immortality was to be a teacher – to pass on his work ethic, joy for life, a well-rounded education and a smile. He loved his second home in China. Colin will be terribly missed by his family and friends: his wife Cynthia of Shanghai, P.R. China; his son Jason Childs of Ottawa, ON; his daughter Kirsten (Mike) Kirkpatrick and his two little “sprouts” granddaughters Chaisy and Autumn all of Saint John. Colin was predeceased by his parents.
A funeral for Colin was held with his family in Shanghai and a memorial walk will take place in the spring with his family and close friends in Canada.
