Jean Greeno
TRUEMANVILLE, NS With much sadness, the family of Jean L. Greeno, aged 88, widow of Aubrey Greeno of Truemanville, NS announce her peaceful passing at the Gables Lodge, Amherst on Monday, December 17, 2012.
Born in Lower Shinimicas, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Sarah (Black) Smith.
Jean was a community minded person, throughout the war years she worked in Amherst at Canada Car, moving to Montreal where she was foreman on the factory floor at BOAC, manufacturing instrument panels for the Liberator and Lancaster bombers. Upon being contacted by Aubrey Greeno, after his return to Canada following VE day, she bought a wedding dress and returned home to be married, becoming the mother of 7. Being the wife of an RCMP Marine Division Officer she lived in Halifax and St. John's NL, returning to Truemanville upon retirement. Throughout her life, Jean was active in community and church activities.
Jean will be sadly missed by daughters, Sharon Pye (Terry) of Halifax, NS, Sandra Doney (Robert) of Lower Sackville, NS, Angela MacLean (Chris) of Dartmouth, NS; sons, Gordon (Eleanor) of Middle Sackville, NS, Earl of Truemanville, Brian (Della) of Halifax, NS, Kevin, of Lakeside, NS; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sister, Doris Smith (Ronald) of Linden, NS.
She was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey in March 2012; brothers, John, Arnold and Leon and a sister Stella.
Jean's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (902-667-8777) from where a time of visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Sunrise Trinity United Church, Amherst Head on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 2 pm, reception to follow, Private family burial in the Northport Hillside Cemetery.
