Lillian Margaret Usher

Born In: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada

Passed on: December 21st, 2012

It is with extremely heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Lillian Margaret Usher on Dec. 21, 2012, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late Pius and Elizabeth (MacKay) Corbett.
In earlier years, Lillian was employed with General Instruments on Vulcan Avenue in Sydney. In 1977, she returned to further her education, graduating from the PCW course. She accepted an employment position with Seaview Manor in Glace Bay, caring for the many residents until her retirement in 1993.
Lillian had a great passion for her community and was instrumental in the restoration and running of the Gardiner Mines Community Hall. She believed that giving back to the community was important and dedicated her time selflessly. Lillian enjoyed playing darts, bingo and doing many crafts, including knitting and crocheting.
But Lillian’s true love revolved around her family. Up until last year, she could be found attending her grandson Brandon’s hockey games, knocking at the glass to get his attention. She watched with great pride as her family grew, adding more grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she never missed an opportunity to let them know how she really felt about them. Her love for family was deep-rooted, unwavering and centered.
