Stanislaus "Stan" Given

GIVEN, Stanislaus “Stan” Barry Stuart, 81 of Centrelea, Annapolis Co. passed away peacefully in his sleep, December 25, 2012 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Mimico, Ontario, he was a son of the late Spencer and Angela (Haslam) Given. Stan was a dedicated member of the RCAF for 25 years, “retiring” at the age of 50 to build his dream house in Centrelea, while working at Britex Ltd. He was a war history buff, a backyard mechanic, and all-round handy-man. If it could be broke, he could fix it. He loved cars, and loved to travel, spending many of his summers exploring Canada and western Europe. He loved to fly, as pilot or passenger. He is survived by his wife of almost 52 years Carolyn (Thibodeau), son Robert (Beatrice) of Ottawa, daughter Ruth Angela (Murray) Schrader of Middleton; grandchildren Nathaniel, Daniel and Robi; niece Kathy Jenkinson and nephew Jim Jenkinson. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister Patricia (James) Jenkinson. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held Saturday, December 29, 2012 and a Memorial service was held Sunday, December 30, 2012 both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bridgetown, with Padre Gordon Poley officiating. Flowers from family only please. Donations in Stan’s memory may be sent to the War Amp’s of Canada or to the I.W.K. Children’s Hospital.
